My experience getting a mortgage there was less then stellar. I wanted to buy a new house with 10 months left on my current mortgage term. The banker I worked with was typically out of the office randomly during the week, paperwork had errors, and keys parts of the contract were not discussed. We also discussed whether I would be assessed a penalty for breaking term, since we would be up-sizing our mortgage with them on a new term. He said it was possible to waive it and would look into it. During the whole process no paperwork was shown to me identifying the fees associated with me breaking term. I show up to the lawyer 2 days before closing, and I see a charge for broken term for $2100 on my bill. I would assume that a good bank would notify you on paper of your penalty and how it would be assessed for this type of thing. These fees are not uncommon, however, the lack of communication about it is appalling. Also, they did not provide any bridge financing which forced us to close our sale and purchase on the same day which made moving a nightmare. Avoid!
